The Bookstore
Anna åpnet døren til bokhandelen og kjente den varme lukten av papir og kaffe.
Anna opened the door to the bookstore and smelled the warm scent of paper and coffee.
Hun gikk sakte mellom hyllene, øynene vandret over fargerike bokomslag.
She walked slowly between the shelves, her eyes wandering over colorful book covers.
En eldre mann stod bak disken og så opp da hun kom inn.
An older man stood behind the counter and looked up when she entered.
"Hei," sa hun forsiktig.
"Hi," she said cautiously.
"Jeg leter etter en bok på norsk."
"I'm looking for a book in Norwegian."
Mannen smilte.
The man smiled.
"Hei!
"Hi!
Hva slags bok vil du ha?
What kind of book would you like?
En roman?
A novel?
En ordbok?
A dictionary?
Eller kanskje en barnebok?"
Or maybe a children's book?"
Anna tenkte litt.
Anna thought for a moment.
"Jeg vil ha en lett bok.
"I want an easy book.
Jeg lærer norsk."
I'm learning Norwegian."
"Ah," nikket mannen.
"Ah," nodded the man.
"Da har vi en liten serie her."
"We have a small series here."
Han gikk bort til en hylle og tok frem en tynn bok med store bokstaver på forsiden.
He walked over to a shelf and took out a thin book with large letters on the cover.
"Denne er enkel og fin."
"This one is simple and nice."
Anna tok boken i hendene og leste tittelen høyt.
Anna took the book in her hands and read the title aloud.
Hun smilte.
She smiled.
"Ja, denne ser bra ut."
"Yes, this one looks good."
"Vil du ha en ordbok også?" spurte mannen.
"Would you like a dictionary too?" asked the man.
"Det kan være nyttig."
"It can be useful."
"Ja, takk," svarte hun.
"Yes, please," she replied.
"En liten ordbok."
"A small dictionary."
Han fant en liten, blå bok og la den på disken.
He found a small blue book and placed it on the counter.
"Her er den."
"Here you go."
Anna betalte, la bøkene i vesken sin og så på mannen igjen.
Anna paid, put the books in her bag, and looked at the man again.
"Tusen takk!"
"Thank you so much!"
"Bare hyggelig," sa han.
"You're welcome," he said.
"Lykke til med norsk!"
"Good luck with Norwegian!"
Hun gikk ut i gaten med et lett hjerte og en ny bok som ventet på å bli lest.
She walked out into the street with a light heart and a new book waiting to be read.
